Panoramas

From time to time, I like to stitch together compositions in Photoshop that were taken on either my Sony CyberShot DSC-P72 or my iPhone. Below I share some of them with you…click on any of them to get a 1000-pixel view of them.

Please don’t steal my work. If you do, I will find you in a dark alley. I swear it.

Most recent work appears first.

The Lake & The Factory / Springfield, MO / May 2008

I shot this panorama on my iPhone just before sunset right after church. I decided to take Kissick Rd. to Lake Springfield and just stop and bask in the sunshine. The timing was beautiful, the lake was calm and the factory in the distance is kinda stately in a way.

The Park’s Landscape / Springfield, MO / April 2008

I was taking a leisurely stroll through Springfield on a somewhat cloudy, brisk day and wanted to get a panorama of the light poles and the parking garage. I think it turned out interestingly nice with a perspective setting applied in Photoshop CS.

Looking Over Downtown / Springfield, MO / April 2008

I stood atop the empty Jordan Valley Car Park to snap this sequence of photos at sunset. The color difference was a bit harsh but I was able to manage…once again, thank God for color correction in Photoshop.

Snow On My Street / Republic, MO / February 2008

We had 9″ of snow one very weird February morning. I stepped outside my parents’ house and decided to get a wide-angle view of what our street looked like. The snow was piled pretty high (for Republic, at least) on each side of the street after a few cars having passed through.

Mist From The Ocean / Cannon Beach, OR / April 2007

One of my favorite places from my home state of Oregon is the coast. Its picturesque beauty, for me, is unrivaled by any place I have been in the United States. This panorama was a result of good timing…I got down to the edge of the cliff to shoot this while the morning mist was still fresh.

Tunnel To The City / Portland, OR / March 2007

When I lived in Portland, MAX was my method of transportation during rush hour simply because US 26 was a parking lot. I caught this panorama during a rare daytime opportunity when no one was even in the westbound side of the underground Washington Park/Zoo station.

Remembering My Hometown / Rainier, OR / March 2007

I was born in Longview, Washington — the community across the river in this photo. This photo was taken from the town in which I grew up — Rainier, Oregon. I miss the area, and I miss the people there. Someday I will return to make a documentary about the region and how its people are persevering through its longtime economic struggles.

View From The Esplanade / Portland, OR / February 2007

Portland, Oregon — hands down, the best city in the world. I’m biased, I’ll admit it. This was my first panorama attempt, from a bridge on the Eastbank Esplanade, of downtown Portland. I think it turned out well.
