I have three things on my mind right now. Ruminate with me.
1. I’m beginning to understand why they say one’s eyes are the windows to their soul. If that weren’t the case, then people in public wouldn’t be so quick to avert their eyes from even making random contact with yours. Walk through the mall sometime, you’ll see what I mean.
2. Nowhere more than in Springfield have I seen collections of gibberish thrown up on walls in local establishments and called “art.” With the logic of local “artists”, I could beat a 2×4 with the claw end of a hammer about a hundred times, then turn around and sell it for $50 or so.
2.1 And on that note, no, Coffee Ethic, Springfield is NOT the “New Portland” as one of the T-shirts you sell says. If it were, I wouldn’t be so eager to move back to the Northwest. Grow acres upon acres of evergreen trees, a few mountains, and get rid of the humidity — then give me a call when you’re done. Thy elitism be rebuked.
3. I got my brother hooked on the awesomeness that is disc golf. We played at McBride Park last night and tonight, where we both sucked it up. He played much better tonight though…he was +7, whereas I came in at +4. He shot +13 yesterday so I think he might beat me next time out.

So I noticed the whole eye-contact thing at work. They are so scared to even say hi, because they think if they talk to me, they HAVE to buy a sandwich. And yes, art around here sucks and disc golf rules!
Well I would like you to teach me how to play disc golf when your dad and I come home next week. I sure am going to miss you when you move back to the NW. My loss is Portland’s gain. :-(
2.1 made me laugh. They actually have t-shirts that say that? Wow. They are mistaken. Just because you make good coffee doesn’t mean you can dub yourself “The New Portand”.
Speaking of art, I saw the first amendment of the consitution spray painted onto an abandoned building at the corner of Chestnut Expressway and National. Seeing freedom of speech combined with vandalism was pretty amusing.
I’m going to put some rubbish on the walls over here and make a t-shirt that says “Portland is the new Springfield”. ;)
