Another Northwest institution is biting the dust, sadly.

Looks like Joe’s Sports will slowly fade into oblivion soon — myself and many of my friends still refer to it as G.I. Joe’s, which it was for years. It’s just been sold to the same company that just finished liquidating Circuit City.

This really sucks. I used to buy all my golf discs there (they were pretty cheap, I paid about 5-10 greenies per disc), and I have a few friends who work at different Joe’s locations. I feel for them.

UPDATE: I have it on good authority that the announcement of the closings and subsequent layoffs will come Friday.

Such a sad thing, as I remember when the one in Hillsboro opened. I didnt even live here at the time and it was a still a huge deal.

Although I did go a get a new golf club, shoes and balls for fairly cheap today. Something to be said for liquidation sales, sadly.
