91.2% Of Greene County Voters Board The Fail Boat

Springfield had elections for four city council members as well as Mayor yesterday.

I won’t use this as a platform to announce the results, but rather I think the bigger story is that 8.8% voter turnout was reported in Greene County.

Even though there wasn’t a “money” issue to vote on, like the Springfield fire/police pension tax vote in February, it still kinda sucks that more Springfieldians didn’t take their voice to the polls and vote for whom they wanted as Mayor or to sit in City Council.

I think the Mayor and Council vote in Springfield was just as important as any “money” issue that could have been voted for, seeing as the new members of city government are going to have a major say in what goes on future ballots.

So was this 8.8% turnout a big middle finger to the city as sort of a voter backlash for putting the pension tax on the ballot earlier? Who knows. I’d like to find out why so many didn’t show up, that’s for sure.
