Sunday Flag Football Game 1 Is In The Books!

We had nine people come on out today for flag football, and it was a barnburner of a game. The Yellow team came out on top of the Red team 49-39 in a shootout — well, at least the score made it appear as such. Red dominated yardage throughout the game but their quarterbacks threw four critical interceptions, all of which were returned for touchdowns. Yellow also ran off a kickoff for a TD and scored on two run plays.

At the two-minute mark of the game, Yellow led 39-36 with Red driving down the field poised to score. A Ryan Cook interception changed all that — Yellow’s fourth pickoff special for a TD on the day made the score 46-36. Red came no closer than a field goal, and after an onside kick Yellow threw in a field goal of their own for the final margin.

We’d love to have more people out next Sunday…remember, 1:30 PM, Sundays at Smith Park here in Springfield.

Looks like a good group gathered for your first game. I love the fact that three girls joined the game!

Yes, and we even went by college Co-ed rules that state if a girl scores a touchdown, it’s 9 rather than the standard 6. The women did very well.

    Very nice! How much? lol.
