Chris,

I also have my reservations about the planned interchange at Chestnut and 65. This is the same thing that is suposed to be going in at I-44 and 13.

Another Sunshine/65 interchange would be better if they have room. Even bigger is the unaddressed problem with the RR tracks. I was listening to a radio program with some road folks a few weeks ago and they were saying MDOT couldn't deal with this because of the cost (something like $40 million). The caller into that show was actually concerned with the RR crossing on Division which is not a MDOT road. Geene County and the City would need to deal with that one.

It sounds like MDOT is going to do the normal "wait-until-it-really- becomes-a-problem-and-the-costs-are-really-really-high-and-then-we=will-get-around-to-it" solution. This is not going to solve itself and it is not going to go away.

Perhaps MDOT/Greene County/Springfield would be better off to work with the railroad to relocate the entire line somewhere. of course that would be many years away even though it might work.

Keep your comments coming.
