Era Over For Kelso COGOP: Louise Kell Passes Away

UPDATE 10-7-08: Sis. Kell’s obituary can be found here.

I was saddened to see in my email this morning that Louise Kell, a longtime member of the Kelso Church of God of Prophecy, passed away on September 29. I have not received word as to her cause of death, but I would imagine it is probably due to illnesses associated with age.

Personally I will always remember “Sister Kell” (that’s what we called her at the church) for being so warm and inviting to anyone that came in. I always loved sitting down and just chatting with her during the after-service dinners we used to do monthly at the Kelso COGOP.

An era is indeed over for the Kelso COGOP. I think, and anyone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, that she attended the church there since its inception in 1957. If that is the case, I believe it to be true that she was the last original member of the Kelso church.

Prayers and warm thoughts are going out to her family, especially Bill and Sharon Burrese, at this time. They are all such good people and even if you don’t know them, if you read this please pray for them during this difficult time.

  • She will be missed, she was a blessing and always tried to look at the positive side of life. It’s kinda of funny how you remember the little things when someone passes. I will always remember her bringing the same thing to church potlucks since I was a teenager; meatloaf, and green beans with onions and bacon. And of course she will be famous for clapping off beat, or perhaps we were off beat to her! She loved to sing the song “How Great Thou Art”.
Well she is with the Lord and can sing that song to Him face to face!

  • Wow! Praise God that she is with Him! I know she loved God dearly, and is more than happy to be with him!

I am saddened for the family though, as I know how hard this must be to them. They are in my prayers.
