I would like to thank the folks at Crimson House for their welcome to me tonight as I visited the church I said goodbye to eight months ago. I have to admit I was nervous walking into the building, but everyone’s individual welcomes to me helped me calm down a bit.
I do admit I missed a bunch of them too. Jim Bud, a great guy who worked with my dad for awhile at Loren Cook. Ted, the church maintenance guy and prayer warrior. Nick, whom I had scuffled with before but he greeted me as if nothing ever happened. And Pastor John, who reminded me “You know the way back here.”
Maybe the church hasn’t changed too much since that day in January in which I wrote Pastor John an email detailing my reasons for attending a different church.
Instead, maybe it’s me that changed. And believe me, if that’s true, it’s a good thing.
At any rate it was good to go back and get the feeling of authentic community in church. I’ve been missing that for quite awhile.
Keep praying for me, folks.
