Tulsa’s Really Not A Bad Place
I had to drive out to Tulsa, Oklahoma today to pick up my mother from the airport. When flying to points west, it’s always cheaper to fly out of Tulsa (unless you get some insane deal) than Springfield. By at least $150.
So I drove the three hours and 181 miles west and encountered some more ice, but the main roadways were clear. It was full speed ahead.
Then I saw this right before I hit Vinita, Oklahoma, home of Dr. Phil:
That’s right, the sun made a nice little cameo appearance but it was kinda tough to enjoy it because the sun sets in the west and that’s the general direction I had to travel.
Mom called me while I was about 30 miles from Tulsa and told me her flight would be delayed until 8 PM. So I decided to take a detour and visit the Woodland Hills Mall, and more specifically, the Apple Store. I hadn’t been in an Apple Store since I worked at the one at Washington Square. I took a gander at, and tried out, the new MacBook Air. Stunning little thing, it is. But I don’t find it useful. It’s only pleasing to the eyes, and at this point I think it only serves as a prototype for the laptop of the future.
After my visit to the mall I headed out to the airport, which was only about 8 miles away, and waited there for Mom. Cris Birch called and we talked about his plans to get married soon. Dude’s only 20 and he’s beat me to marriage already. I’m a real chump.
I drove Mom back home and kinda scared her a bit when I decided to shortcut onto MO Hwy. 174, a very boring route into Republic that cuts off at least 15 minutes travel time. Mom spotted ice everywhere, I kept driving and got us home safe.
Now it’s bedtime.
