Now we’re under a Winter Storm Warning. Check this out, courtesy of the KSPR Weather Blog:

Glory, glory hallelujah. The snow is marching on.

Sorry for hotlinking images KSPR, but this is cool stuff and I’m excited about it. More discussion about the weather is at the KSPR weather blog, which I have linked to above.

International Delete Your MySpace Account Day

Simon Owens over at Bloggasm came up with a nifty idea to get a bunch of people to band together and delete their MySpace accounts today, January 30. He came up with a good list of reasons to delete it, of which at least seven apply to me (thankfully, not #3):

1. You rarely log in to Myspace except to delete spam friend requests from nude webcam girls.

2. You spend five minutes writing a wall post only to hit an error message when you try to post it because of all the website glitches.

3. You’re a girl who constantly gets marriage proposals from random men in the middle east.

4. You visit someone’s Myspace profile only to suddenly have music start blasting out of your speakers. Bonus points if it happens to you while you’re at work.

5. You have to make redundant clicks to perform simple tasks because Myspace keeps taking you to advertisement pages where you have to click on “return to myspace profile” in order to continue what you’re doing.

6. You visit someone’s profile only to have your eyes bleed because of terrible page layout with non-matching designs and font colors.

7. Your experience is hindered because of intrusive banner ads that either talk to you or try to reach out and block your view of what you’re trying to look at.

8. You read yet another news account about how some child predator using Myspace has abducted a little girl or that some hoax myspace account has caused a teenager to commit suicide.

9. You’re frustrated with the fact that Myspace doesn’t allow you to post your contact info, meaning to contact someone you can only use Myspace’s glitchy Instant Messenger, message/email system, or wall commenting.

10. You’re tired of seeing Tom stare out at you from millions of friends lists and just wish he would change his profile picture.

So I’m joining the club and nuking my MySpace at 7 tonight. I rarely use it anymore and it’s become a pain when I have recently. Plus it’s just not quite as good compared to Facebook.

I won’t miss it, I know that. Email and my blog is a more effective means of communication.

Anyone else who dares to take the plunge and delete their MySpace?

You All Had Better Be Right This Time

I’m talking to every weather forecaster here in Springfield who predicted 6-12 inches of snow for Springfield the day before we only got one inch, if that.

I tell you, if I would have made that gross of a mistake on my job, I would have been canned. :)

Here’s the snowfall forecast for tomorrow, courtesy KY3.

You all had BETTER be RIGHT.

The Winds Of Change Are A-Blowin’

Just six months into my newfound life here in Springfield, Missouri, and things are already changing drastically for me.

I’ve made two big jumps in the past few days — and they’re both for the better, to help improve me all-around.

First off, I started my new job with AT&T today. I’m officially a Part-Time Retail Account Executive, which means I help third-party resellers hit their sales goals and all that cool stuff. I’m pretty excited about the job — it pays well, and I get good weekend hours. I’ll be working Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Secondly, and actually most importantly, I felt the Lord call me away from Crimson House and to search for a new church body. There are many personal reasons behind the move as well, but I just want to ask for continued prayer for my spiritual development and also for Crimson House that God would give the church the impetus to grow.

Sunday night, as I blogged about in brief on Monday, I visited one of James River Assembly’s Life groups up in Strafford. Quite a drive but it was worth it. I met a bunch of great college-age folks and young professionals. In fact I think I met more people my age that night than I have met over the course of me being here in Springfield. I’ve been running on empty and needing that kind of fellowship and Sunday night was a huge boost for me.

Back to the work topic.

Since I only work Friday through Sunday, I would really like a door to open for me to work in multimedia — whether it be video or still photography, from Monday to Thursday. I am aggressively pursuing an opportunity and I pray that it is indeed an open door for something great to happen.

Things have just started to turn the corner for me and I believe that some good things are going to happen in the future. I’ve been praying for the Lord’s direction in my life and He definitely hasn’t removed His guiding hand. I just pray the final piece to the puzzle is answered in the form of another job that can really provide for me to be able to get a different vehicle and save up.

Then, and only then, can I worry about finding a wonderful woman to complete my life. :)

Here’s to hoping it snows Thursday!

Rainier School Debacle Far From Over

This just in from the Longview, Washington Daily News:

A Rainier man has filed recall petitions on six of the seven sitting Rainier School Board members, saying they’ve failed in their oversight duties.

Russ Crawford, who has criticized board members and Superintendent Michael Carter for several months, filed the paperwork late last week. The members named are Chairman Dale Archibald, Vice Chairwoman Penny Blahm, Rod Harding, Bill Scholten, Scott Schuff, and Chad Womack. Crawford claims that the board has let Carter run the district with no oversight and that they are “no longer fulfilling their ultimate obligation,” to the students and community, according to a statement he released.

Some of you may remember a couple previous posts I had made about the Rainier School District slapping Superintendent Michael Carter on the wrist due to some stupid circumstances. I don’t really want to rehash it all so click here and here to read about them.

I know a bunch of folks on the Rainier School Board, and with Rainier being such a small town (population 1750), the shenanigans taking place in the Rainier School District over the past year have really shaken the community.

My take is that the Rainier School Board could have easily ousted Carter and Kash like they needed to, yet the few board members whom Carter didn’t have in his pocket failed to stand up for what was right. Because of this I wholeheartedly support Russ Crawford in circulating a petition to remove every member of the school board. They have failed to do their job, and in turn are failing the students and their families.

The old words ring true. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men sit around and do nothing.

Good people sat around and now drastic action has to be taken. I implore every Rainier resident that comes across this blog to support Russ Crawford and sign the petition. Change is needed now, for the kids’ sake.

My Presidential Endorsement

The 2008 Presidential Election is going to be a tough time for our country. Wait, no, it already is. People are fighting more than ever, within their own parties no less, over who should get top billing in their party for president. Obama or Billary? McCain, Romney or Suckabee? Everyone’s going crazy and paying more attention to presidential primaries than ever.

And why shouldn’t they? Our country is in dire times. We are in the middle of a war that we have absolutely no business throwing money and bodies into, our economy is in the toilet and the only solutions being proposed are to devalue our dollar and inject more funny money into the system, and President Bush’s second administration has been downright horrible — horrible enough that I have forsaken the Republican party.

It’s going to take our nation a loooooooong time to get out of the hole we’ve dug for ourselves. We can’t pull out of Iraq overnight, the economy won’t stabilize in a week and President Bush doesn’t leave office for another year.

Sigh.

Looking over all the presidential candidates, I can’t find one that truly impresses me. I don’t like McCain’s stance on immigration, Romney appears too soft, Suckabee panders too much to the far right-leaning crowd, and unfortunately Paul doesn’t stand a chance.

On the Democratic side of things, Obama talks an awesome game but is relatively unproven, Clinton is a sociopath and Edwards stands no chance.

So who do I support? After looking over all the prominent names who are running for president, I decided to put some huge thought into some less popular candidates who I know support my ideals and can begin to turn things around for our nation.

Check out who it is, after the jump.

While I Wait For The Snow…

…Oregon once again is getting socked with it pretty good. Everywhere but Portland it seems, got a fair amount today. Some places got up to four inches. My old town, Rainier, got about three from what I heard.

I hereby formally apologize to everyone whom I have affected by my unintentional creation of a weather vortex. The early January tornadoes that hit us here in Missouri spawned a child in Vancouver, WA the day afterward — and now I have brought my horrible fortunes with snow down here. I love snow but for some reason I never get to see much of it.

That having been said, today was a great day here in Missouri, or for me, specifically.

Dad has been in town all weekend and we went to church this morning. Omar and Misty joined us and it was good to see them again. Tonight I checked out one of JRA’s college life groups up in Strafford and it was wonderful to meet a bunch of folks. Most of them, if not all, go to Evangel University.

It was also exceptionally warm for this time of year today. Stepped outside tonight and the wind didn’t make me wish I was dead.

Oh, and look on my blog tomorrow, I will be formally endorsing a presidential candidate, much in the same vein as Jason and Larry.

“Untraceable” Was Absolutely…Eh…Well…Uh…

This sums it up quite well from the KATU Movie Guys:

The one real reason to see this movie is Portland. We love Portland. We love the Broadway Bridge. We love that traffic snarl at the Rose Garden as you merge from I-5 to I-84. We love the old homes in the Hawthorne and Laurelhurst districts. It all looks so good on film. Unlike The Hunted, there are no scenes where the Willamette River later turns into rapids. The city’s geography is portrayed realistically and that’s great.

Untraceable isn’t a totally bad movie, but it isn’t very good and I really can’t recommend it. If you do decide to go, perhaps it’ll encourage more people to shoot their films here and pump money into the economy. That’s a good thing. Let’s just hope that some better movies are shot here. Oh, one more thing. If you ever get an e-mail from a guy telling you he has free Winterhawk tickets for you, don’t meet him in a dark parking lot.

Enough said, and with it having been said, if you go see this movie, try and find me. I spotted myself in three different scenes and I have a total on-screen time of about four seconds, which means you’ve gotta have a trained eye. If you don’t know what I look like then you’re S.O.L.

But hey, if you do see me, you win a chicken dinner. On me. It’ll take some of the sting of seeing the movie away.

Oh, and Fox 12 got scathed in the movie, big time.

Go See Untraceable (And Look For Me In It)

The day has come where myself and a bunch of the good people back at Fox 12 in Portland make appearances as extras in the crime thriller, Untraceable. (Read my previous blog entry on the subject.)

Tonight the movie premiered, so I am urging each one of you, my faithful blog readers, to go see the movie, scan the screen carefully, and see if you can point me out in the two scenes in which I appear. My screen time probably totals 15 seconds so you’ve gotta be quick.

Go see it and when you see me, stand up and scream.

I will be seeing Untraceable tomorrow. Partly because I want to see Diane Lane in it, but mostly for obvious reasons.
