What I (Hope To) Look Forward To In 2008

For your reading pleasure early this Monday morning, and continuing my retrospective on 2007 — let’s look forward to 2008. The past year has been full of disappointments but it’s time for some positive thinking here.

I firmly believe that the good Lord brought me to Springfield for a reason, and even though I don’t know what that reason is at this point, I do have some things I am asking Him to provide me in 2008, and as such these are things I look forward to. In bullet list form FTW!

- A new job. I have longed to move out on my own and become financially secure since moving here in late August, but the pay scale at my current job makes that impossible. It is enough to get me by for now and I thank the Lord for His provisions, but I am looking to save up some money (unheard of for me) and eventually rent an apartment or even buy a house here in Springfield. Plus with my background in media and creative arts, I believe the Lord will open the door for me in due time.

- More friends! The friends I have now have carried me through the first few months here. I don’t know how they’ve done it, but they have and I appreciate and love them. I simply have a desire to branch out, meet new folks and get to know a bunch of people better. I’m at my best when surrounded by people, and I would love to be able to be myself in front of a huge group of friends and make folks laugh like I used to be able to do so easily. Also, with more friends, there exists the possibility of meeting…

- The love of my life! Dang skippy, you better believe it. That’s not a lofty expectation for someone who will be turning TWENTY FREAKING FOUR this year. Seriously, have any of you Springfieldians surveyed the world around you during the Christmas shopping season? I am convinced there are more beautiful women per capita here than Portland, and that’s really saying something. Beauty is only a quarter of what counts though. Seventy-five percent of it is compatibility, personality, etc. You know how it goes.

- A vibrant media ministry at my church. Crimson House has some pretty skilled people when it comes to the creative arts. Consider this my public challenge to all my CH readers for us all to put our heads together, combine our creative brain power and use it to make the church better, and as a vehicle to draw people into it. We’ve talked and prayed endlessly about people being drawn to the church…so let’s be that vehicle that draws them.

- Continuing my education. Yeah, I have job experience in media, but when it comes to a formal education, I have a certificate from the military’s videography school. I would like to further bolster this by getting a four-year degree in filmmaking and audio engineering.

- Better physical shape. Yawn, that’s the prototypical New Year’s Resolution. Let’s see if I actually do something about it.

There you have it, that’s my list. What good things do you guys hope for in 2008? Anything we can help each other pray about? List ‘em!
