Building The Perfect Beast
My apologies for not posting much over the past couple days. After selling my MacBook Pro, I haven’t had a computer to post from. Well I do have my iPhone but as cool as it is, posting from it is sorta tedious.
I should have a computer tomorrow…yes I am converting back to Windows, mainly so I can run Avid Xpress video editing software. The system I am building is gonna scream.
And I will post more on my blog later. Peace.

What system are you building? I am selling my computer and building a new one too. Mine is lagging too much on games, so I am building a new one as well- thanks to your inspiration.

Welcome (back) to the dark side of the force, Chris. I hope you did not get Vista.

There is no way in the world I would even want to touch Vista with a ten foot pole. Avid’s website says they’re not going to support Vista anytime soon, and their support forums are full of people who tried Avid Xpress in Vista and got the famed BSOD.
I am sticking with XP Pro right now, for the foreseeable future.
Oh and Jason, my system will be a 3.2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Cedar Mill-driven computer with 4GB memory, a 500 GB SATA hard drive and an nVidia GeForce 7300 with 256 MB of video memory. Should be a more than capable editing system.

Nice! I took a look at the graphics card and it is NICE!!!! 3.2 GHz, I’ve seen faster but at this time there might not be a need for it unless you are going to play the hottest titles on games, especially with a graphics card the likes of that one. How fast will your memory be? And you might need to make some changes in your bios as windows XP is infamous for giving boot problems on more than 2 gigs of ram.
I plan on getting a DDR2 system, and will run at least 3.4 ghz. As far as my ram, my budget will probably only allow for the x1950 crossfire edition. But it looks like it can hold it’s own. I am going to start off with only one gig of memory and build off of that, as the core components are looking to be a bit pricey, and pc6400 is pretty pricey as well.

I meant “as far as my ‘graphics card’ I can only get the x1950″, that was a type-o from only three hours of sleep last night.
