Great Words…

Now that we’re here,
It’s so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
All the mistakes
One life contained
They all finally start to go away

Now that we’re here its so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
I can forgive and I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢m not ashamed to be the person that I am today

Projects I’m Working On Now…

I’m working on a boatload of projects here at the Brewer Compound, all of them related to stuff here on the Internet.

  • First priority is a new website for our church, Crimson House Ministries. When it’s done, it will be a comprehensive resource for information about our church on the Internet — we’ll offer a podcast of all Pastor’s teachings on Sunday nights, as well as photos, and eventually video of events we hold at the church. A main feature will be a new monthly newsletter launching soon.
  • Second on the list is an update to my Video section. I’ll be renaming it the Showreel and it will contain many more videos than it does now. A few from when I was in Iraq, and a few other things.
  • Third priority, and this is going to take about a year or so, is a new musical venture I’ve gained inspiration for somehow. I plan on creating some tracks for an EP to be titled The Visionary. Stay tuned for more on that.
  • Fourth, last but not least on the list is my venture for some ice cream.
  • Good People

You know you’re in the right place when you get together with a friend, and the two of you sit at Red Robin for over two hours eating, talking and sharing life experiences — and you feel your life has improved because not only someone took the time to listen, but they shared their heart with you as well.

That’s exactly what went on this afternoon with me. Evin and I spent some good time in conversation and got to know each other really well. I had felt bad because I had talked to her off and on for two years but I never really got to know her. Today I got that chance and took full advantage of it.

My wallet is lighter and I’m sure my gut is bigger, but my heart is warmer and I’d do it all again if I could have as good a time as I had today.

I’m now fully convinced that over my time here in Springfield that I will get to know many people — not just know them, but to know them well and foster good relationships. It’s amazing how much insight people are willing to give into their lives if you simply give them a chance to share it with you.

And I also know God put good people in my life, right here and now, for a good reason.

    Thank you Lord.

    Tour of Missouri Photos

I parked at the church today and was able to take photos of the Tour of Missouri as it snaked its way through Springfield, all the way to downtown.

Good Morning! Look At The Sun!

Good day. And welcome to Day 14.

Before I begin everything, I have two announcements.

    1. Check out this spot created by LAIKA in Portland. I met one of the guys that works there, when he came into the Apple Store one day. I thought this clip was a bit humorous.

    2. I checked my site stats a few minutes ago and found that A%(#$ still visits my website. “Checking up” on a former lover’s website, would be like me pulling my chair over to the wall and repeatedly smashing my frontal lobe into it. Both are horribly idiotic things to do.

Once you say you’re done with someone, you should be done with them. Don’t keep checking the latest updates on them.

    Anyway, here’s for the post:

The weather here is becoming more like Oregon summer weather every day. Temperatures are lowering into the 70s by day and into the low 50s by night. My kind of weather. I actually can’t wait until winter gets here.

So yesterday was a really productive day. I did very well on my job interview, and had lunch with Pastor Pace. It was really neat, especially considering his busy schedule and how we were able to meet together for a couple hours, talk about some ministry ideas such as the church newsletter and website (it’ll be online before you know it).

On my way to the job interview, I had to cross town so I figured I’d pass the time by talking to my sister from another mister (Ev, once again). We ended up having a really neat conversation and we shared with each other how the Lord is getting ready to do some cool stuff in each of us despite things we may have done to the contrary.

My conversation with Evin really got me to thinking, and I can’t remember a church that I’ve attended where the people are as transparent as they are here. In just the short two weeks I’ve been here, it’s been amazing to see how honest, frank and willing to share hurts and burdens (and blessings as well) everyone is with one another. You can’t have that level of transparency with one another and not expect the church to grow somewhat.

Fast forward to later yesterday evening, when Nick called me. Nick is the guitarist and BGVs for the worship team, and a great guy who is also leading the youth team during this session for our church. We shared some vision for the young adult ministry, and at the end he told me that I have been an answer to prayer for the church. That spoke to me as well, because I’ve been praying to belong somewhere.

And believe me, Crimson House is a huge answer to prayer for me. The people there are nothing short of amazing.

So moving on — on the docket today, I have to take care of some things in town, take some photos of the riders as they come into town today for the Tour of Missouri, and head to church where my mother is teaching the adults tonight.

Before I scramble, let me leave you with a dancey track from a Swedish DJ named Eric Prydz. It’s a remix of “Another Brick in the Wall” by Pink Floyd, titled “Proper Education.” I had it on my MySpace for awhile.

    Ciao.

    Check It Out, Ya’ll

The world of Air Force broadcasting is very small. Most people know each other as there are only roughly 175 people in the career field. The opportunities for networking are endless. I had the opportunity to meet and network with several broadcasters during my time in the Air Force.

God also watched out for me. Over my four-year term in the Air Force, I connected with and befriended several Christians who helped keep me in check, helped me build my faith and served as encouragers and accountability partners in my life.

I didn’t, however, get the privilege to serve at the same duty station as one fellow broadcaster whom I had seen on Air Force TV news and even introduced a couple stories I had written.

Not only is he a good broadcaster, but from his writings on his blog, he’s a fellow Christian. His name’s Lee Hoover and he has some really good insight as to Christianity and his personal walk with Christ. Not to mention a nice looking blog.

I’ve added him to the Blogroll below, and I encourage you to check out his site. Also check out his videos, especially his church college group promo. And be sure to pray the Lord’s blessing on his life as well.

If you read this Lee, God bless and keep the faith man!

    Tour of Missouri

Tomorrow the inaugural Tour of Missouri comes rolling through Springfield, and I’ll be there with camera in hand tomorrow to take some photos of the premier cyclists in the world pedaling through Springfield streets. It’ll be pretty fun.

Even with all the doping scandals in pro cycling, I still like the sport and find it massively interesting. I think it takes a lot of willpower and endurance to pedal for hours and miles upon miles. I have a lot of respect for the people who participate in the sport cleanly — it has to be immensely harder to participate in than sports such as football, baseball, etc.

Anyhew, my first photo update from Springfield will be of the Tour of Missouri tomorrow. If anyone reads this and will also be there, let me know.

    Open Doors, Open Floodgates

Ok, so this is just too cool.

I have my first job interview today, and it’s for a full time position. If you read this, send up a quick prayer for that.

Also I could be getting a part-time job on top of this. It’s a job I really want so pray for that, too.

Sorry I’m so vague about the jobs, but I don’t feel it prudent to say what they are right now. But I do appreciate any and all prayers coming my way…and I’ll return the favor too. ;)

I Air Fived Jesus Last Night

I was pleasantly surprised by prayer meeting at the church tonight. Each Monday, the core group of the church — about 20 of us — gather in the youth room to pray for our church and each other.

Last night’s blog post was somewhat of a summary of thoughts I had been dealing with after conversations with my mom and little sister (Evin). I had initially told them I didn’t want to attend the prayer meeting tonight but something weird happened overnight.

If you’ve read my blog for any length of time you know that I firmly believe God speaks to me in dreams. Last night was no different as I dreamed I was driving through Springfield, and I stopped at a major intersection. I got out of my car and pulled out a road map, and a man walked up to me to help me.

“You look lost,” the man said.
“Yeah, that’s an understatement,” I replied.
“How can you be lost when you’re already home?” the man asked.

And instantly the dream was over. I dwelt on that last phrase for about an hour before returning to sleep. How can I be lost when I’m already home? What the heck did it mean?

My interpretation of that statement is that I believe I am where I need to be physically, mentally and spiritually, and God is going to take care of everything in due time. Right now it looks like things aren’t going well, but God is in control and He’s gonna work it all out.

I carried that mindset into prayer meeting tonight, and I decided to attend with an open mind. In my previous post I explained how I don’t speak in tongues. That’s okay because it seemed my mind had a bunch to pray about already — and I left prayer meeting tonight with a great feeling in my heart. Don’t know exactly what it is yet, but it’s a feeling of excitement and a COMPLETE one-eighty from what I had been feeling last night. Amazing stuff.

I feel like I gave Jesus an air five and my life is all the better for it.

    Prayer Meetin’ Time

Today I mowed the lawn and put three more applications in for any sort of job that can provide me some $$$.

Now I’m heading to prayer meeting. The day’s almost over.

    Where’s my Daft Punk CD?
