I received this supposed clipping from a 1955 article in Housekeeping Monthly from a friend today at work. Don’t know if it’s a really good Photoshop job or just what, but it’s pretty good.

I would like to point out that if I were ever expected to meet this standard of being a “good wife” then knowing my “place” would mean being able to be beautiful w/ a ribbon in my hair and dinner being ready upon my husband’s arrival because my husband’s out there making a butt load of money for me to spend on these enriched dinners and clothes that make me look great! If the good men in 1955 were out there working their butts off so the women could live this kind of life-style then I agree, 1955 wouldn’t be a bad time to be married. However, the good men these days allow their women to work, love them in their sweats after an exhausting day, and help with the house duties & taking care of the children so I don’t really mind living in this day and age. I don’t need a good wife’s guide because God’s going to send me a man that I love so much that I’ll be a GREAT wife & that doesn’t happen with a “guide” =)
My wife will be the best wife that ever existed, even if she doesn’t follow the exact guidelines of this issue of Housekeeping Monthly.
I just think it’s a funny article.
My beautiful wife does it ALL, 1955 standard thru 2006 standard . “That’s a fact Jack”.
And I was 6 years old in 1955, I was there.
Now I wear the ribbon.
