Day 144: A Good Bible Lesson
I had the day off today, so I was able to read the Bible for awhile. So here’s part of what I read today. Long live the Message translation.
Rom 14:1 Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do. And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with–even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department. Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently.
Rom 14:2 For instance, a person who has been around for a while might well be convinced that he can eat anything on the table, while another, with a different background, might assume all Christians should be vegetarians and eat accordingly.
Rom 14:3 But since both are guests at Christ’s table, wouldn’t it be terribly rude if they fell to criticizing what the other ate or didn’t eat? God, after all, invited them both to the table.
Rom 14:4 Do you have any business crossing people off the guest list or interfering with God’s welcome? If there are corrections to be made or manners to be learned, God can handle that without your help.
Rom 14:5 Or, say, one person thinks that some days should be set aside as holy and another thinks that each day is pretty much like any other. There are good reasons either way. So, each person is free to follow the convictions of conscience.
Rom 14:6 What’s important in all this is that if you keep a holy day, keep it for God’s sake; if you eat meat, eat it to the glory of God and thank God for prime rib; if you’re a vegetarian, eat vegetables to the glory of God and thank God for broccoli.
Rom 14:7 None of us are permitted to insist on our own way in these matters.
Rom 14:8 It’s God we are answerable to–all the way from life to death and everything in between–not each other.
Somehow, that spoke to me today. What did you all make of that??? Post your thoughts and I’ll post mine in return.
Not much happened today. Gonzaga and West Virginia, two of my favorite NCAA basketball teams, lost last night so I’m not too pleased. BUT DUKE LOST TOO SO THAT MAKES EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT.
Anyway, it’s late and I have to work in the morning. Cheers.

A lot of what I read is what happens no matter what is over the door printed on the shingle.
people do have the right to voice there two cents on anything in this world, they just get carry away when it comes to things of god.
if any one has ever been hurt, and i mean spiritually hurt.
it most often was not by a sinner or someone unknown to you
it’s easy to get in God’s way by wanting to clean the fish, when that job belongs to God.
most of all of who come to this blog, know what is said by this thought….push the persons face down into the altar for salvation or when they think the holy spirit may be upon them for that person to recieve the indwelling of the Holy ghost. let’s all help God by jiggle the person jaw shout in there ear that they may hear what you are saying over that of god.
We might find things can go smoother if God is in control without the zeal of Zeal-christian-lites!
?¢‚Ǩ?ìWe must offer ourselves to God like a clean, smooth canvas and not worry ourselves about what God may choose to paint on it, but at each moment, feel only the stroke of His brush.?¢‚Ǩ¬ù

I think that a lot of times we forget that each person is fighting a different battle. So instead of helping them win the fight that they are working on at the moment we end up discouraging them by telling them what else they are doing wrong. Things that perhaps they can’t deal with at the moment because God is telling them to work on something else first. 14:1 Kind of backs up my point on that one I think….remember they have their own history to deal with. I have seen it happen, even with myself, that if someone keeps harping on you to change just one more think I get hard headed and it makes me want to argue that either I dont want to deal with it now or I just dont see what the big deal is yet. Then and there all “lectures” should stop and praying should begin. That is where the person is going to get the most help until they are ready to deal with the issue that is being put up to bat…I dont know. Perhaps I am off base on this one or what have you but that is what immediatly came into my mind when I read it
