The official website of the future father of Frank “Big Bird” Brewer. Watch out world.

Okay, so I lied. I felt saucy and wanted to put the video update up today. It’s kinda rushed but I wanted to get this done in time so John could show it at Ring of Fire youth group tonight. The link is below…Windows Media Player is required.
This video update was filmed at Adnon Palace, right in front of Saddam Hussein’s former parade grounds. The crossed swords behind me mark the entrance to the parade grounds.

And now, I present you with a flattering photo to prove that Saddam Hussein no longer rules Iraq with an iron fist. That he no longer rules, period. That he should be dumped in the Tigris River. Or hung. Or something.

This photo was taken at a orientation briefing at Al Faw Palace in Camp Victory. Hooray, it’s the first photo you have of me here in Iraq. Be sure to check the MediaCenter soon.
Not much happened today at all, except going out and shooting some holiday greetings. I think we did 40 or so. Other than that, it’s all quiet on the western front. Or, I mean, the Iraqi Convention Center. Also there are days that I just don’t feel like typing much and this is one of them. I’m still alive and thanks for checking out my site.
Much love. Another video update is on its way tomorrow.
Chow.
Check out this Track of the Week. I offer up to you a sample of Scottish dance music artist Mylo’s limited-release track from his album Destroy Rock & Roll (Limited Edition), “Soft Rock.” It is cool.

It’s been getting cold here at nights and in the mornings. Like Rainier, Oregon cold. I never thought it could happen in Iraq but I guess I was wrong. Overnight lows are hovering around the 40’s all week, and daytime highs reach no higher than the 70’s. It’s actually nice weather…I thrive in the cold.
Which leads me to a flashback from when I was about 8. I asked my dad once if he somehow had to choose between freezing to death and burning up to death, which would it be. And he replied, “Neither because I don’t ever plan to make that decision.” Funny guy. But later on he said “I’d rather freeze than burn up. It just puts you to sleep.” Kinda brings me to my next point…I’d rather be cold than hot any day because you can just put on more clothes when you’re cold. And you can put on more and more until you get comfy. With the heat, it’s the opposite, but after you are burning up and you take off all your clothes, then what? You can’t peel off your skin. If you like the heat as opposed to the cold then I guess you’re a wild child.
So work is slow today, but tomorrow I am going to shoot more video of holiday greetings. This time it’s from Navy folks. I had no clue we actually had enlisted folks and junior officers from the Navy supporting us here. I always thought they were floating around on ships somewhere playing basketball and air hockey while waiting for something to happen. Kinda like us Air Force folks, except we are never on ships. At least I don’t think.
I was talking with a guy from my shop during dinner at the chow hall last night and he says, “You Air Force people are more like civilians than any other branch of service.” That’s right, that’s why I joined the AF. If I were in the Army I would not weigh 176 pounds and I would run 2 miles every day, I guess.
Funny story here. It’s kinda bad but who cares. There’s this portly fellow I know from work, and he doesn’t seem like a very happy boy. Well we had this meeting once, and near the end of it he looks over at me and then notices that my hair is longer than every other male in the room. He then addresses the group with, “Not to single Airman Brewer out, but if you need a haircut then you can head over to the Al-Rasheed palace. They cost $3 and they’re open 8 to 5.” Needless to say I got kinda miffed at this guy singling me out even though he said he wasn’t, so I got saucy real quick and held my tongue…then I said, “Not to single (Mr. X) out, but if you need to go work out then you can head over to the Palace Gym. It costs nothing and it’s open 24/7 for your convenience.” Needless to say it made him mad and he has not talked to me since then. Which is good.
As you can see, I am feeling rather lighthearted today and I felt the need to go ahead and update you all on how things are going. Haven’t heard any loud BOOMs since the day we had that car bomb go off kinda close to us. Work is cool, I get along with everyone and it seems I am in for a somewhat fun experience. I just hope they never throw me in the news department. Then my experience will stay good.
My fantasy football team got thrashed this weekend. Not to make excuses but I really don’t have much time to update it. Nor do I really much care about it anymore. I’ve got other things on my mind, I guess.
I do have to admit I feel kinda good and bad at the same time that I don’t have a girlfriend back home right now. I see people writing and calling their girlfriends constantly while they’re here. It got me to thinking that I am sad that I don’t have anyone back home like that, that I’m in love with and that loves me, etc. and I can buy Christmas, birthday and valentine presents for while I’m here. But I’m also happy because there is no void to fill in that regard — I’m not physically separated from anyone. Interesting thought right there for the day.
Today’s shoutout goes to Diane Pace, who commented in my shoutbox yesterday or early this morning or something like that. Yes of course I remember you Diane…you guys rock sufficiently as well! I love you guys and Springfield and can’t wait to come visit again.
That’s today’s shoutout, brought to you by

The Chevron Corporation. Chevron…Simply Smarter. At least I think.
I’m outta here. Love you all, peace out, and bye.
Well ladies and germs, not much to report today. I am sitting here at work editing more video and getting more stuff done. Hooray for me.
About the only update I have for you is a radio interview I did with Jessie, a DJ from The Edge 102.1 in Dallas, TX. She was here yesterday and today visiting our studios because the Army unit I am embedded with is from Texas and they all listen to her regularly. She wanted to stop in and interview a few of the folks here, and play the interviews on The Edge. Pretty neat stuff. I’m not gonna tell you what I said in the interview, you’re gonna have to find out.
So now you’ve seen typed updates, watched a video update, and now you’re about to hear an audio update. What more could you ask for?
Hasta luego. The link to the interview is below. Thanks once again to Jessie for spending some time down here, she’s pretty cool.

Oh, and also, be sure to check out the top right hand of the sidebar on the right. There is a new section called “Where Is Everyone From?” that allows you to click the link, and add your name and location to an interactive map that will show where everyone that visits this site is from. It looks pretty neat.
Peace.
Good day at the office today. I finished some holiday greetings to send out. Should be sent out tomorrow.
We heard a car bomb go off relatively close to our compound at work today. It rattled my teeth. Guess I’ll have to get used to that stuff happening. No matter how often I hear explosions around here it makes me somewhat jittery to hear it because even though my co-workers and I are not hurt, someone had placed that bomb with intent to kill someone somewhere. I don’t know what drives people to do that stuff.
Anyway, tomorrow morning I will be interviewed by KDGE 102.1 Dallas, TX DJ Jessie on our radio station here at AFN. Basically she is going to ask me some good questions about my experience so far…and I really don’t know what else. It’s crazy because as long as I served overseas as a radio host interviewing others, now I am the one being interviewed. You will be able to hear the interview on this website as soon as I have the opportunity to post it. This will take place tomorrow morning, so you all will be sleeping while I do the interview. It’ll be fun.
Today is Sunday which means I hope everyone out there has the opportunity to go to church. I’d like to shout out to three churches that I have been a part of or am a part of that are praying for me: Lakeside Church and Family Life Center in Newport News, VA; Crimson House Ministries in Springfield, MO; and the Church of God of Prophecy in Kelso, WA. These churches’ congregations have taken the forefront in praying for me and supporting me through my 6-month tour here. Thanks so much to everyone from those churches that read this.
And a special shout out to everyone else I know who are backing me up and praying for me, supporting what I do and thinking of me daily. I appreciate it.
I am also praying for everyone back home as well. Jesus and I have had a lot more conversation time since I came here to Iraq.
Until tomorrow, take care and God Bless!
I thought this was neat. Here are all the states I’ve visited. I got this off a neat website. States I’ve been to are in red.
I will update how things have gone here a little later.
Check this out. We filmed this somewhere in the International Zone. It’s a personal message from me to you all. In order to reduce load times on this site, I bless you with a link to it. Quicktime is required.

YAY FOR MY BLOG.
Today we surpassed 3 million visitors to the site. This is awesome, seeing how we passed 2 million two days into the month of July. Thanks to everyone who has visited the site, read my blog, commented, interacted with me, etc. over the past year and a half that this site has been in operation. It’s been pretty fun running firestormlive.net.
Also a quick but heartfelt thanks to the folks I received email from in the past 24 hours. Folks from Lakeside, my parents, Jude 2 forum folks, and dear friends all flooded my Gmail inbox with well wishes and news of what’s going on back home. THAT’S WHAT I LIKE TO SEE. KEEP IT COMING…I will do my best to get back to everyone individually.
EXCITEMENT! I am about to go on my first video shoot in 12 minutes. We are going back to the Embassy (the former presidential palace, and the complex where everyone lives and conducts most of their business) to shoot some holiday greetings. (Saying the word shoot feels weird, because it’s wartime yet I am still referring to a camera.) It’s neat getting to have folks come on camera, say who they are and where they are from, saying happy holidays to loved ones, and then being able to send those out to their respective local TV stations.
This morning we heard gunfire being exchanged kinda far away. It sounded pretty intense….it was going on for about 25-30 minutes. Interesting how already after only one week of being here, hearing explosions and gunfire are the norm.
Also this morning I rode in the back of a Humvee to work. Call me youthfully ignorant, overenthusiastic or whatever, but I actually considered it fun to ride in the back by myself, in a heavily guarded area, with fires burning in the background, gunshots going off, and all the while realizing I am in the safest place I can be in Iraq. What an experience already. And there are 173 more days left of it!
The Seahawks game will be broadcast this Sunday on AFN Sports at 1:30 AM local time. With me and my roommate being from the Northwest, you bet your gosh darn rear end we’re staying up to watch it.
That’s it for now. Aloha, baby.
